Unit 5. We the People

This unit consists of Chapters 10,11,+12. Here is the coolest of the units in my opinion because it explains how we, the citizenry, speak to our government and have our voices heard. It explains the political parties, voting and election procedures.  

Unit 4. Branches of Government

This unit consists of Chapters 7,8,+9. These three chapters will deal with the three branches of government. We already know the basics of the three branches from the US Constitution. These chapters are in-depth study of what the powers and actions that are set to each branch.   

Unit 3. Founding Documents

This unit consists of Chapters 5+6. This is the most crucial set of documents that shape who we are as a nation. There is a lot to read through and the text is very challenging. Together we will take these legal documents and break down what it really means.

Unit 2. Citizenship, Colonies, and Government

This unit consists of Chapters 3+4. Here we review the different forms of government and the idea of democracy and republic. Afterwards we delve into our colonial past with Great Britain as well as the struggle for independence. Lastly, we investigate what it means to be an American and the duties and responsibilities of being a citizen.

Unit 1. USA- Lands and Resources

This unit consists of Chapters 1+2. We will look at the physical geography of the USA as well as the natural resources available. The information will show the regions of the USA that will be used later to better understand the ways in which different regions interact and shape their views.

Unit 6. State and Local Government

This unit consists of Chapters 13+14. These chapters are explain what the City, County, State, and and Federal government do for you. We learn what each are responsible for and how you can reach your representatives.  

Unit 7. The Legal System

This unit consists of Chapters 15+16. We will answer several questions and have many heated debates during this section of the text. What are the types of laws? Civil Laws? Criminal Laws? Juvenile justice?

Unit 8. Introduction to the Economy

This unit consists of Chapters 17,18,+19. We will learn all the necessary vocabulary and systems of economy that all governments use. We need to understand what influences economic decisions, the principles of supply and demand, and consumerism and budgeting.

Unit 9. Government's Influence on Economy

This unit consists of Chapters 20,21,22,+23. We look at the National budget, Federal Reserve and Banking are the main topics. We then look at how the government sets and applies the fiscal policy of the nation.

Unit 10. Trade and Foreign Affairs

This unit consists of Chapters 24+25. Why and How the nations of the world trade? Globalization and the interconnectedness of the planet. Why does the USA get involved in the affairs of other nations? Are we right or wrong for it? International organizations such as NATO, United Nations, and others set the policies and standards for the World rather than just one na
